Note: Dementia is not a disease but rather a term used to describe a wide range of symptoms which impair one’s ability to perform one’s everyday tasks. Alzheimer’s is a disease that accounts for the most common cause of dementia, but it is not the only one. Others include, but are not limited to: Lewy body dementia, Frontotemporal dementia, and Vascular dementia. When it comes to dealing with dementia many Alzheimer’s resources are extremely helpful.

Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists is a series of 47 books by author and Illustrator Mike Venezia geared for 8-9 year old’s. I had bought several of the editions for my children when they were young and as my mom’s abilities declined found myself reading these books to her. She delighted in the colorful and recognizable illustrations and the short storylines truly kept her engaged. Books like these are great for entertaining a loved one with dementia.
